Mike & Dana, here are two different mockups for Mike's website. With both versions I wanted the design to be professional and clean with a good, clear layout. When writing the content I tried to keep it light and engaging without being pretentious. In both mockups, a short description of Mike's business comes near the top with his phone number and business hours trailing closely behind. We don't want any would-be clients wondering what to do next. His payment types and certifications come at the bottom with a nice spot for client testimonials just above. The Frequently Answered Questions section helps fill in some of the details about Mike's business.
This first mockup divides Mike's clients into four categories with an intentional focus on the home market .Taking inspiration from some classic newspaper designs, this mockup's real strength lies in the typography. Alignment, spacing, and visual weight have all been carefully balanced. A nice, tight layout ties the whole thing together nicely.
The second mockup keeps the same basic structure of the first but uses a large photo in the top section. This adds a big splash of color and makes the page more engaging. The “clients” section has been reduced to three categories, making the page a bit lighter on the eyes. The bottom content is basically the same with the content flipped from one side to the other.
Sometimes removing the color can help you see other aspects of the design (like layout, structure, and typography) more clearly.
